Ford Reveals 2015 Focus ST at Goodwood

With the Focus hatchback and sedan already seeing a refresh for the 2015 model year, it was only a matter of time before the sport-tuned hot hatch Focus ST got its due. ford-focus-st-2015-4Ford has just unveiled the 2015 Focus ST at the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed in the United Kingdom.

What to Expect

First of all, most of the changes in this refresh—like most refreshes—are cosmetic in nature. We like the look of the new Focus ST, but you’ll have to see it for yourself to know if it’s right for you.

Updates to the exterior of the Focus range from sportier fascias on the front and rear to a brand new hood, 18-inch Rado Gray alloy wheels, slim headlights with LED accents, and a more aggressive front end. You might notice the larger lower grille and the raised upper grille along with the low-mounted fog lights if you’re staring down the Focus ST head on.

Of course, not all of the changes were just for show. The Focus ST does receive some mechanical upgrades, including a new suspension and steering set up to go with the 2.0L EcoBoost I-4 with 252 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque.

New front springs and a sportier tuning for both sets of shocks comprise the suspension update, which is said to deliver improved agility, responsiveness, and precision while behind the wheel. The steering improvements come from an updated electric power steering system.

While we’d be happy to talk about the 2015 Ford Focus ST all day, the fact is that no matter what we tell you about it, this is a car that demands to be driven to be understood, and we can’t wait to put our pedal to the floor.

Previewing the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat

While the best Dodge models seem to have the longest names, that only means great things for the upcoming 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, as it serves as not only an 2015-dodge-challenger-srt-1_1035amazing new muscle car but a throwback to some of the most popular vehicles in its class.

Let’s take a closer look as to what you can expect from Dodge’s new 600+ hp machine.

The Muscle Car Wars Heat Up

While we know some muscle car enthusiasts who pick sides in the Chevy/Ford/Dodge wars, we know many more who are just excited to see three automakers go head-to-head-to-head trying to outdo each other. And that’s why we’re so excited for the 2015 Challenger Hellcat, as it raises the stakes for every manufacturer involved.

The team at Road and Track said that there are people who will look at the Hellcat and ask what the point is, and we agree with them. But those are the people who will be content driving something that is simply a tool to get from home to work and back. The Challenger isn’t for that kind of driver, and the Hellcat is especially not for them.

With a 6.2L HEMI V8 under the hood, experts predict over 600 hp, though Dodge has yet to release official numbers. For those of you keeping track, this launches it pretty far ahead of competing models like the ZL1 and the GT500, likely cementing the horsepower dominance of the Challenger in the pony-car class.

One of the best parts about the Hellcat is that you can hear it coming, tearing up the road and roaring like its namesake. If you want to control that roar beyond the comfort of the standard 8-speed automatic transmission, Dodge borrowed the same transmission found on the latest Viper—the Tremec TR6060—making this one of the most formidable vehicles on the road.

We Can’t Wait for the Hellcat

We’re dying to get our hands on the new Hellcat, and if you want to learn more about it and the latest auto news, stay tuned here to For Car Fans. We’ll be glad to let you know when we know more about this unique Challenger and whether or not we can expect anything new from its competition.
