Earlier this year the 2016 Audi R8 was spotted testing at the Nurburgring in Germany, but was covered in camouflage, making it difficult to get a good look. Now the new R8 audi-cars-logo-emblemhas been spied yet again, but this time without all of the camouflage as before, letting spy photographers get some of the best shots yet. What is certainly clear is that this second-generation Audi R8, while there will certainly be some changes and upgrades, will look similar to the current model.

Exterior Design

From the looks of the photographs, it appears that the new R8 will be longer and wider than previous edition. You’ll notice that the 2016 model will feature more angular headlamps and taillamps, providing an assertiveness to the whole vehicle. If you’re looking for differences between the current R8 and the next version, you’ll be able to tell the two models apart by the 2016 R8’s hexagonal grille.

Despite the fact that the 2016 Audi R8 seems to be longer and wider in statue, it is expected to be lighter in weight than the previous model, contributing to what should be better track performance.

A naturally aspirated 5.2L V10 engine that produces close to an astounding 600 hp will be the primary engine. Additionally, a 4.2L V8 engine that delivers approximately 450 hp will also be available for the new Audi R8. Regardless of which engine you choose it will be paired with a seven-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. There won’t be an available manual transmission with this next-generation model. It’s expected that the 2016 R8 will have a top speed of 155 mph.

Audi will also offer an electric version of this car, the R8 e-tron, which is projected to deliver a driving range of 280 miles.

Arrival and Pricing

The next-gen Audi R8 is expected to be available to car buyers in early 2015 as a 2016 model year car. As far as pricing goes, you could see the 2016 R8 offered anywhere from $120K for the V8 model to over $250K for the electric e-tron version. Discover the 2015 BMW X4 at the New York Auto Show

The success of the coupe-like crossover X6 surprised so many critics and automakers that many are rushing to release their own stylish crossover vehicle, but it looks like BMW has managed to beat them to the punch again with the 2015 BMW X4.

Debuting at the 2014 New York Auto Show, the X4 is built on the underpinnings of the X3 while targeting performance and style to put it head to head against competitors like the Range Rover Evoque, Lincoln MKC, and Porsche Macan.

What Does “Coupe-Like” Mean?

While the X4 certainly takes many aesthetic choices from the coupe body style popular with cars, BMW is still giving you a four-door crossover here. Instead of borrowing the two-door design, the X4 carries a smooth line design, a low sloping roof, and yet still offers room for three in the rear.

Put simply, rather than borrowing from the box-like build of old SUVs as many crossovers do, the X6 and X4 give you a sense of style and design instead of a sense of mere practicality.

Powertrain Options

Since the X4 is sharing a platform with the X3, it will also have similar engine options, including a 2.0L four-cylinder with 240 hp on the X4 xDrive28 model and the option for an upgraded 3.0L straight six turbocharged engine rated for 300 hp on the X4 xDrive35i.

Although the X3 has a rear-wheel drive option, each of the X4 models will have BMW’s xDrive all-wheel drive as standard equipment, giving you total control over your new crossover.

A Delight for Car Fans Everywhere

One of the things that we simply love about the BMW brand is there ability to go above and beyond what is expected and deliver truly unbelievable vehicles. From the success of the X6 to what we can only assume will be incredible success of the upcoming X4, they seem to know what car fans what before even we do.

You can learn more about the 2015 BMW X4 at the 2014 New York International Auto Show, which runs from April 18th to the 27th at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City, but rest assured that we’ll let you know any major developments here too!
