If You Own A Volkswagen Passat Do You Throw Like A Girl?

I was watching the amazing Bronco’s and Ravens Playoff game (congrats to Ray Lewis) the other night and happened to see Volkswagen‘s new commercial for the Passat. Normally commercials don’t garner my attention, but I started out with a father and son playing catch, so me being a father to a couple of boys I watched.

In the commercial, which is included at the end of this post,  the son is having a hard time throwing the ball as he is still learning. Then we see the father throw the ball (like a girl) and realize that the son’s lack of throwing ability is a result of the father. The voice over touts the durability of the Passat and to pass down something that your children WILL be grateful for.

It was a funny commercial and creative. While I’m not sure they meant to insinuate that Passat owners throw like girls they do a good job at creating enough interest in the car to make me want to check it out.

The Passat starts at $20,845 and gets 32 mpg on the highway and 22 in the city. It also offers:

  • 2.5L, 170 hp, 5-cylinder engine
  • Multi-function steering wheel and trip computer
  • Bluetooth® with audio streaming
  • Power-operated side mirrors with integrated turn signals
  • Automatic headlights with Coming/Leaving Home feature
  • 6 airbags
  • 3 years/36,000 mile (whichever occurs first). No-Charge Scheduled Carefree Maintenance Program.
  • 6-speaker sound system with MP3- and WMA-compatible in-dash CD player, AM/FM radio, and AUX-in for portable audio players
